All children have equal rights! That is why, through the “START inclusion” project, we propose that at least 200 students of all ages and teaching staff from 5 schools in Timiș county (from Teremia Mare, Lovrin, Lugoj and Timișoara) learn, even from specialists in the field, how to behave with children with disabilities so that they feel included in the community. In the targeted schools they already study children with different disabilities, but our target group is any child in mainstream school who has not been taught how to react when they meet a different child. We will prepare a guide addressed to children and teachers in kindergartens and mainstream schools, about children’s rights and the social inclusion of children with disabilities in mainstream education, and we will carry out an information campaign about its existence. A community that does not support people with disabilities will never be able to overcome prejudices and misconceptions about them and will block the opportunities for these people to develop their skills. A strong community is a community that also supports its most vulnerable members.
